Festive Cookery Masterclass

We are delighted to be welcoming Georgie Harding-Newman of renowned FIG Food and her colleague & food writer Tracie Dudley Craig as our hosts for our Festive Aga Cookery Demonstrations. Tickets are available for Tuesday 26th, Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th November.

Georgie and Tracie have put together a fantastic set of aromatic recipes. The dishes promise to be full of the flavours of Christmas, and will give you new ideas for your festive repertoire including great inspiration for vegetarian dishes as well as using ingredients you might not have tried before. Recipes are demonstrated with an Aga cooker, but also suitable for electric and gas ovens.

Tickets are £45 each which includes coffee, the masterclass and lunch to taste the recipes with a glass of wine.

What to Expect

For all dates, the Cookery Masterclass Programme is as follows:

10.30am: Arrive for coffee

11am: Demonstration starts - recipes, tips and ideas. We keep things relaxed and fun. We love to take questions throughout our demonstrations.

  • Pork belly braised with warm spices and aromatic apple sauce, crackling
  • Saffron potatoes
  • Smashed cucumber salad
  • Miso-baked Aubergine
  • Chinese-style sausage rolls
  • Prune and Armangnac franipane tart with cardamom ice cream

1pm: Lunch, including tasting of recipes for cookery demonstrations. We finish at approximately 2pm

Ticket price: £45 including coffee and lunch.

At each cookery demonstration we provide you with step-by-step instructions to take away (suitable for an Aga, fan oven, conventional or gas oven). We can cater for any dietary requirements - please just let us know when you book.

Georgie Harding-Newman

Whilst living in London, before moving north in 2011, Georgie set up FIG Food. Already specialising in producing dishes with the freshest of seasonal ingredients, the move to an area with such an abundance of world-class, locally-produced ingredients has allowed her creativity to reach new heights. She creates delicious, innovative and beautifully-presented bespoke menus for events all over the Scottish Borders and north Northumberland.

Georgie has guest-cheffed at Main Street Trading Company and creates amazing game-based shoot lunches, delighting clients with her bold flavours and modern approach to presentation and plating. She says, ‘Food has always been a passion of mine. Whether creating a new recipe, or discovering a new ingredient, sharing the pure, distilled joy of simply-made, delicious food is what drives me’.

Georgie lives in north Northumberland with her husband, four children and two dogs.

Tracie Dudley Craig

Tracie started cooking professionally in 2009, after a number of years catering for private events, running the kitchen and dining room at a television production company. She has a particular fondness for French bourgeois cookery.

As well as working with Georgie at FIG, she has recently worked with chef, food writer and broadcaster Allegra McEvedy, as part of the team that relaunched the legendary Albertine wine bar and restaurant in west London.

When not in the kitchen, Tracie helps her husband run his wine importing business and writes for a web-based food magazine.

Past Cookery Demonstrations

We've been lucky enough to have had some superb speakers and demonstrators at Carfraemill over the years. Most recently we welcomed Georgie Harding-Newman and Tracie Dudley Craig in March 2019, Mary Kemp in 2018, Sue Lawrence in 2017 and Lady Claire Macdonald in 2016.
