We like to share our passion for food through our popular cookery demonstrations using our cherry red Aga. We've had many wonderful speakers over the years. Our programme also includes craft workshops from time to time.
As usual, we are running a festive cookery demonstration at Carfraemill to give you some recipe inspiration when entertaining a crowd over Christmas. This year, it's going to be a canapés masterclass. We are also running a floral wreath workshop. The details are as follows. Floral Wreath Making: Monday 3rd December
The wonderful Emma Macdonald of Stems, the Scottish Flower Co, in Peebles will be hosting a Christmas wreath making workshop. Select your own natural greenery, add some beautiful blooms and decorations, to create a natural Christmas wreath to take home. The workshop is designed for complete beginners as well as those a little more green fingered. The event promises to be a relaxed and fun way to start the festive season.
Price: £45 per person including all materials and a 2-course lunch.
Details: Arrive 10.30am for coffee & mince pies and the wreath making workshop at 11am. Lunch follows at 1pm.
Canapés Masterclass: Tuesday 4th December
Suzie Walker is running a Creative Canapés Masterclass to give you lots of inspiration for Christmas entertaining. Suzie has been catering for all kinds of events in the Scottish Borders for many years at Clint Lodge. She is a real canapés specialist and makes the most wonderful combinations. She'll be demonstrating lots of recipes including gluten-free beetroot blinis with hot smoked salmon and mini rosti with pea puree and smoked haddock.Suzie will show you lots of tips and tricks throughout the demonstration as well as give you the full recipes to take away. Afterwards, you'll get to sample all of the canapés as a starter to your lunch.
Price: £45 including 3 course lunch of canapés, festive main and dessert.

Both events include tea, coffee & mince pies on arrival as well as lunch with a choice of festive main and pudding. The canapés masterclass also includes a starter of all of the wonderful creations which Suzie has made for us. Please note we are able to cater for dietary requirements - most dishes are gluten free or have a gluten free version available.
Roast turkey with chipolatas, sage and onion stuffing, cranberry sauce, roasted potatoes, roasted root veg, seasonal greens
Local estate venison casserole with orange and juniper, celeriac mash, winter vegetables

Our Usual Format (2019 dates tbc)
10.30am: Arrive for coffee and shortbread (or mince pies for Christmas!)
11am: Demonstration / workshop starts - recipes (for cookery dems), tips and ideas as well as a lot of laughs. We keep things informal and love to take questions throughout our demonstrations.
1pm: Lunch, including tasting of recipes for cookery demonstrations. We finish at approximately 2pm.

At each cookery demonstration we provide you with step-by-step instructions to take away (suitable for an Aga, fan oven, conventional or gas oven). We can cater for any dietary requirements - please just let us know when you book.
