Due to COVID-19 Government Guidelines, we are currently closed. If you'd like to book a table for when we reopen (from 31st January) please get in touch to book your table. Carfraemill is renowned for its food and warm hospitality - a local favourite for family suppers, romantic dinners, Sunday roasts, Scottish afternoon teas, Scottish high teas and hearty breakfasts. Family friendly and dog friendly!
Restaurant Opening Hours: subject to Government Guidelines (from 31st January 2021)
Open every day: 7am to 10:30pm inside. We also have an outdoor terrace which is permitted to stay open over the evening, and alcohol can also be served here as normal. We have patio heaters to keep you warm!
Hotel residents: for those staying in our rooms, we can serve food in the restaurant later in the evening, as well as providing room service, which includes alcohol.
COVID-Safety Measures
We are following all Scottish government guidance to ensure we are operating in a COVID-safe way. We hope you feel this is a very safe place to visit at this time - we have put a huge amount of work into making sure this is the case. If you have particular needs, such as requiring a table on its own, please let us know as we should be able to accommodate any requests of this nature.
Our COVID-safe measures include: 1m spacing between tables; fewer tables in the restaurant areas; more tables outside; bookings very much preferred; lots of hand sanitiser stations for customer use; face masks to be worn by staff serving customers; lots and lots of additional cleaning and disinfecting with products certified to eliminate Coronavirus (EN14476); Test & Protect contact recording; one way system for entry and exit; tables with a maximum size of 6 (not including children) with no more than 2 households at each table; screen at the bar for payment purposes (contactless preferred); no toys unfortunately; paper menus; social distancing measures in the toilets.
Please note that if you are bringing little ones, we will provide colouring-in sheets and colouring pencils - these will be disinfected between each use.
About Our Food
We like to keep things local when it comes to our food. Where possible we use Scottish Borders-sourced ingredients. We have a "Taste our Best" award from VisitScotland as well as being a finalist in the 2017 Thistle Awards for "Best Informal Eating Experience" within Lothian and Borders.
Our guests can now benefit from an Electric Vehicle Charge Point free of charge.
